Since November 2008, I have been volunteering with the Big Brothers program. The function of Big Brothers is to match boys who have limited contacts with their fathers with adult male volunteers. I spend about 4 hours a week with my little brother.
Political
Having lived in Hyde Park, Chicago for several years, I was quite familiar with Barack Obama before his introduction to the national political scene. I was involved in Obama’s campaign for presidency early on. I went to Iowa and Indiana to knock on doors and persuade people to vote for Obama.
I have been involved in bringing attention to the sufferings of Palestinian people for quite a long time. With the help of my Israeli friend, Nitzan Shoshan, I organized events for University of Chicago’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine. While at the University of Waterloo, I was part of the executives of the University of Waterloo Students for Palestinian rights.
